Writer’s Conferences in August


MC900435237Berkshire Writing Workshop invites published and aspiring adult writers to join in our annual summer gathering from August 4 to August 8, 2014. The program features five days of intensive writing workshops with a focus on creating new work. Under the guidance of a dedicated instructor, writers should expect one of the most productive writing weeks of their lives.

Catamaran Writing Conference at Pebble Beach

The Book Passage Travel Writers & Photographers Conference
The Premier Conference in the World for Travel Writers and Photographers has an extraordinary, international reputation among publishers, editors, and writers. Now in its 22nd year, this four-day Conference offers an array of writing and photography workshops in the morning, a full afternoon of panels and discussions, and evening faculty presentations. There are optional, working field trips to explore the resources of the Bay Area. The faculty includes publishers, magazine editors, photographers, travel essayists, food writers, restauranteurs, guidebook writers, and more. There are hours of informal interaction between faculty and participants during lunch and in discussions that often last late into the evening.

The Bread Loaf Writers Conference will be held from August 13 to August 23 in the Green Mountains of Ripton, Vermont. The conference includes workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as lectures, craft classes, meetings with editors and agents, and readings by faculty and guests.

Cape Cod Writers Center Conference

Gen Con Writer’s Symposium

Killer Nashville Writers’ Conference was founded in 2006 by writer and filmmaker Clay Stafford as a trademarked charitable production of American Blackguard, Inc.  Since then, it has developed a reputation as a leading advocate for writers and readers of all genres.  Media analysis conducted by a third party in the fall of 2012 found that Killer Nashville was the most written about writers conference on the web. What makes Killer Nashville different from other writers conferences is that it’s about the relationships.

Mississippi Writers Guild Writers’ Conference
MWG assists in strengthening the skills of writers by sponsoring writer workshops, conferences, and writer retreats. The MWG website provides pertinent information on all facets of the writing life, including publishing, agents, markets, scams, and the craft.

Napa Valley Writers’ Conference
Since 1981, the Napa Valley Writers’ Conference has provided an opportunity for fellowship and serious work with a focus on craft amidst the hills and vineyards that have made the region famous. The conference is sponsored and hosted by Napa Valley College.
